Moyes: We deserved more

Manchester United manager David Moyes was left to rue a plethora of missed chances as his side succumbed to their eighth defeat of the Premier League season following the 2-1 loss away to Stoke City on Saturday.

A Charlie Adam thunderbolt handed the Potters their first victory over the Red Devils since 1984, with the in-form forward having earlier opened the scoring from a deflected free-kick before Robin van Persie temporarily equalised.

Moyes, though, believes his side deserved much more from the game, saying: "I don't know what we have to do to win. We played well today.

"We lost to a wicked deflection from a free-kick and a worldly of a strike.

"The amount of opportunities and chances we created, we should have won the game.

"We only have ourselves to blame for not taking those chances, but I thought it was a good performance."

The result was further compounded for United by the losses of Phil Jones and Jonny Evans to injury, although Moyes refused to use the forced change in personnel as an excuse for the result.

"We lost two centre-halves, which happens sometimes in football," Moyes added.

"But I don't think it changed the game as we kept going and doing the right things.

"Phil Jones looks like concussion, and has had a head scan, and Jonny Evans looks like he has a calf strain."
