6 Ways To Take Care Of Your 'Mental Hygiene'

When you think of proper hygiene, actions such as brushing your teeth and washing your hands probably come to mind.
However, these practices only focus on physical hygiene. They do nothing to take care of our minds.
In his book "The Time Bandit Solution: Recovering Stolen Time You Never Knew You Had," Edward G. Brown presents the concept of "mental hygiene," which focuses on caring for your mind the same way you do for your body.

Just as physical hygiene keeps your body in top condition to move and function, taking care of your mental hygiene keeps your mind sharp. Brown designed the concept "for the purpose of increasing sustained behavioral peak performance through concentration."
He focuses on strategies for ridding your mind of destructive, negative thoughts and filling it with positive affirmations and self-esteem boosters.

Here are Brown's six techniques for taking care of your mental hygiene to keep your mind ready to tackle a challenge at any time:

President Jonathan- There would’ve been crisis if Buhari was killed

President Goodluck Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday admitted that Nigeria would have erupted in turmoil, if a former Head of State, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, had died during separate attacks on them in Kaduna on Wednesday.
He said Nigerians would not have celebrated the Eid-el-Fitri because a major calamity would have befallen the country if they had died.
The President said these just as the opposition All Progressives Congress called for an international inquiry into the attack on Buhari by a lone bomber.
Jonathan spoke when Vice-President Namadi Sambo led members of the Muslim community in the Federal Capital Territory to pay the traditional sallah homage to him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President described those responsible for the attacks as sons of the devil.

After leveling Iraq’s Tomb of Jonah, the Islamic State could destroy ‘anything in the Bible’

Jonah’s main appearance in the Old Testament is short, but none too sweet.
As recounted in the Book of Jonah, God asked Jonah to preach. Not thinking himself cut out for the evangelizing game, Jonah ran away to sea.
But then Yahweh sent a great storm. When Jonah’s shipmates found out he was running from the Man Upstairs, they regretfully threw him overboard. Rather than let Jonah drown, God sent a great fish (or a whale, depending on the translation) to swallow him and — yuck — vomit him on dry land. Once saved, Jonah did preach to the people — but then got angry with God when He spared the wicked.

Gaza campaign on pace to become deadliest Israeli conflict in recent years :The Washington Post

Palestinian and Israeli casualties are mounting at a pace that could surpass any other Israeli conflict in nearly a decade, amid signs of a deepening military and political stalemate driven by diplomatic gridlock, Palestinian militant resilience and the absence of a clear Israeli exit strategy.
The rising death toll in the Gaza Strip conflict propelled U.S. and European diplomats huddled in Paris to call for an extension of a 12-hour humanitarian truce Saturday that had afforded both sides a brief respite from the nearly three-week-old conflict.

Hamas resumed rocket fire Saturday on Israel after rejecting Israel's offer to extend a humanitarian cease-fire, the latest setback in international efforts to negotiate an end to the Gaza war.
Despite the Hamas rejection, Israel's Cabinet decided to extend a truce for 24 hours, until midnight (2100 GMT) Sunday. However, it warned that its military would respond to any fire from Gaza and would continue to demolish Hamas military tunnels during this period.
The temporary lull on Saturday saw Palestinians return to neighborhoods reduced to rubble and allowed medics to collect close to 150 bodies, Palestinian health official Ashraf al-Kidra said.
With the retrieval of the corpses, the number of Palestinians killed reached 1,047 in 19 days of fighting, while more than 6,000 were wounded, he said. More pics after cut...

General Buhari "The Attack On Me Was An Assassination Attempt

''I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack yesterday along Ali- Akilu road , Kawo- Kaduna about 2.30pm on my way to Daura"

The unfortunate event , clearly was an assassination attempt, came from a fast moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle. We reached the market area of Kawo where he took advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly denoted the bomb which destroyed all the three cars in our convoy, unfortunately, when i came out of my vehicle, i saw many dead bodies of innocent people littered around.

Thank God for His Mercies. I came out unhurt but three of my security staffs sustaining minor injuries. They have seen been treated in hospital and discharged.

Signed: General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) GCFR
