 Nobel Laureate Nadine Gordiner

South African writer Nadine Gordiner died on Sunday at the age of 90 in her Johannesburg home. Nadine was a Nobel prize laureate in literature. She was the founder of the Congress of South African writers aimed to address the imbalances in apartheid regime.

Nadine was very active in the HIV/Aids movement, she had 15 honorary doctorates and wrote 15 novels and hundreds of short stories and essays. Nadine will be remembered as one of the most powerful literary voices against the apartheid regime.

We at FOB celebrate the life of this literature legend who in the words of President Zuma "championed the social role of art, music and literature in advancing the struggle against apartheid".
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace
