Flagbearer aspirant of the Convention People’s Party, Samia Nkrumah is counting on her record in the CPP for victory in the party’s January 29 and 30 presidential primaries.

The party founded by her father opened nominations for the primaries on Monday 28th December, 2015

Several personalities including, 2012 flagbearer, Dr Abu Sakara and Lawyer, Dr Bright Akwetey are all expected to join what is expected to be a tight race to lead the party ahead of the 2016 elections.

But speaking to JOYNEWS, the former Jomoro MP said her contribution to the party over the years will do the trick for her.

"I am hopeful and optimistic. I have served my party as a Member of Parliament and as the National Chairperson and Leader over the past few years.

"So I believe i have made my contribution but more important for us is the significance of going into the 2016 election with great conviction of our mission and ideology and what we hope to offer the people of Ghana.

She said next year will be exactly fifty years since the overthrow of her father and the first president of Ghana and that will even be more significant in the scheme of things.

Meanwhile, some party executives have endorsed the candidature of Madam Nkrumah.

One of them is national youth organizer, Ernesto Yeboah. He told Joy News Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah the CPP is a liberal party which allow national executives publicly endorse persons seeking the high office of the land.

He said he contributed 1,000 cedis towards the purchase of forms for Samia Nkrumah.
