Charleston shooting shows importance of removing Apartheid symbols: EFF

21-year-old Dylann Roof
"Dylann Storm Roof who is only 21 years old. He is as young as South Africa’s post-apartheid government and was shown in his Facebook picture wearing the apartheid flag," EFF national spokesman Mbuyiseni Quintin Ndlozi said in a statement.

"The idea of wearing an apartheid flag by a racist killer reaffirms the call by the EFF for the unconditional removal of apartheid and colonial symbols because they continue to inspire white supremacy.
"The EFF has indicated that all statues celebrating colonialists and apartheid leaders must fall because they provide the basis for white people to think they are superior and untouchable," Ndlozi said.
"The EFF sends revolutionary condolences to the families, friends, congregants of AME and the entire African-American community," Ndlozi said.
The EFF also criticised America for the attacks on black people carried by its police, and has called upon the AU to develop policies to help black Americans "because they are clearly not safe under [US President Barack] Obama and will never be under all the successive governments of the US."

  1. I think it's a bit disingenuous to suggest that the black populace of America is unsafe under Obama's administration. The state of American policing is less about presidential leadership and more about an inherent belief that moving whilst black is a crime.

As much as I do believe that all symbols of apartheid should be removed, the people of SA have their own problems and need to focus on building their own country.
