An Exhibition on Art and Hair in Africa with the theme "Doing Hair" was opened last night, 19th August 2014 at the Wits Art Museum, Braamfontein, Johannesburg. In this exhibition were in display for the general public hair that reflect beauty, style, identity and creativity across Africa.
The sculptures and drawings in the street gallery represented many legendary hairstyles of people in Africa. With those of Baule from Ivory Coast, Mende from Sierra-Leone, Ibibio from Nigeria and Biseke-Luba from Democratic Republic of Congo among others. This education resource is sponsored by the Kingdom of the Netherland.
