Huge turnout for Lagos Classic

.Huge turnout for Lagos Classic
Organisers of the week's Lagos International Swimming Classics are expecting more than 300 swimmers to take part in the event.
The event has been sanctioned by the African Swimming Confederation (CANA) and the organisers are hopeful that most of the country's top swimmers will take part.

Most of the local competitors qualified after performing well at the Naval Staff Open Swimming Championship held last month, while wildcards were awarded to entrants from states that weren't represented in Oghara.
Babatunde Fatai-Williams, the Championship Coordinator, confirmed that participants from Ghana are interested in taking part too in the November 7-11 event.
He added that Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the Lagos Sports Classics is still awaiting more entrants from around the continent to confirm their participation.
MOC Chairman Wahid Oshodi is expected national champions from around the continent to take part and that the meet will ultimately expose Nigeria's swimmers to top international competitors.
"We are hoping for a good tournament and this is one of the ways to help our athletes. Having concluded some sporting events lined up for the Lagos Sports Classics, we are hoping that the swimming classics will also be more competitive and colourful," Oshodi said.
