Fifa Set to Lift Suspension On Nigeria

World football governing body, Fifa is expected to overturn a suspension slapped on Nigeria over perceived government interference in the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
This was after a High Court order in Jos on Wednesday quashed a restraining order on members of the executive committee of the NFF from acting.

With Fifa now expected to lift the suspension on Nigeria, spokesman of the NFF's technical committee and Fifa instructor, Paul Bassey says he is pleased "common sense has now prevailed".
"This is indeed cheering news for Nigerian football. It is a good thing that common sense has now prevailed and this only spells good news for Nigerian football," Bassey told supersport.com on Thursday.

"Nigeria's Under-20 women's football team was expected to miss out on the 2014 World Cup in Canada following the suspension order but they will now be allowed to compete in the tournament if Fifa lifts the suspension.

Bassey says he is pleased for the lasses as they look to give Nigeria creditable representation in Canada.
"Most of those girls would never have recovered if they had missed out on the tournament. I am indeed pleased for them. Like I said, this is very good news for Nigeria," he said.
