Born in Durban, South Africa in 1992, Thabiso
Artwell Mbambo widely known by his stage name Engee031 is a Rapper, Songwriter,
MC, Actor, Music Director and he has done countless work in the Durban Hip Hop
scene.
Engee031 has bridged the gap between local and
current by redefining his lyrical structure and putting his English and
Vernacular rhymes to work. Growing up in KwaMashu, Engee031 has always been
inspired by his surroundings. Gangs often patrolled the streets and demanded their respect, this violent persuasive
behavior has influenced Engee031's lyrical composition and this is evident in
his songs.
Although it was a struggle to get where he is
today, Engee031 holds his head up high every time he represents the city he's
from. Starting off with DM Media in 2011, working with "Blaze kicks"
on his first EP entitled "MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS" Engee031 had the
entire country anticipating his debut album. In 2012, Engee031 became the
Slaghuis King of Street Rap Champion after Snatching
the title from thousands of other hopefuls.
Engee031 has shown extreme growth over the past few years and in his absence no
other artist came close to matching his ghetto boy rhymes. In 2015, he was
featured on a hit single entitled "Ipantsula" by Dude (Street
Chillaz), produced by Ngane (Sphethu Records) and the record created a huge
buzz for Engee031 as he was hitting bigger stages such as INK KASI FESTIVAL,
LOVE MUSIC, INK HOP, FACT DURBAN ROCKS just to
name a few. Sharing stages with the likes of ZAKWE, HHP, SWATTA KAMP, KO, AKA,
TIRA, CASSPER NYOVEST, PROVERB and 340ML Engee031 is no newcomer to the
industry. His stage performance continuously leaves the crowd flabbergasted begging
for more. In 2017, he released a compilation entitled "Life Before
Fame" Featuring Ayarai, SCG, Frdm, Dude & MAN, then he merged with
Street Chillaz

up.The song was influenced by his social challenges that affected his
career and he makes it clear on his lyrics that he doesn't want Problems but he's trying to have more options to live better.
