The end of the year typically brings about its fair share of self-reflection and pop diva Britney Spears is no exception. The 32-year-old musical maven recently revealed whom she looks to for inspiration in her own work. At the top of the list: ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake! Brit tells USA Today her former flame is “so different and fresh.” Agreed.
Brit and JT called it quits in 2002, many a hit single ago, so maybe it’s not that big of a surprise that Britney would draw professional inspiration from her fellow Mouseketeer. After all, Justin inspires us each and every day and we’ve never even worn matching denim outfits with him.
Also at the top of Brit’s “I wanna be like you” list: Beyoncé (obvi). “What she did with her [surprise release] album was genius, really brilliant,” Britney tells USA Today.
Brit’s industry bestie Miley Cyrus is an inspiration, too, she says. The feeling’s mutual for the 21-year-old, who collaborated with Brit on Bangerz and had front row seats to the opening night of Piece of Me in Las Vegas.
“She’s cool,” Britney says of the twerkstar. “She’s fun to be around. You know, she’s got really good energy.” And good taste in music, right Brit?
