On December 30, our worlds were rocked with the news that Gabrielle Union’s fiancé, Dwyane Wade, had fathered a child with another woman while he and Gabrielle were on a “break.” The NBA star confirmed the news later that evening during a press conference, but did not share the name of his young son or the name of the boy’s mother.
Now, TMZ has obtained the child’s birth certificate, which reveals that Dwyane’s third son is named Xavier Zechariah Wade. He was born on November 10, 2013, which makes him more than a month old. His mother’s name is Aja Manique Metoyer. She’s 30 years old and lives in Los Angeles. See the birth certificate on TMZ.
Entertainment Tonight previously reported that Dwyane and Aja have known each other “for many years.” There’s very little information about her known so far, but TMZ does report that she has two other children. Aja did not list Dwyane’s name on the birth certificate, but she did give her son his last name.
Dwyane and Gabrielle announced their engagement on December 21, and sources tell Entertainment Tonight that the two have worked through any issues posed by a surprise pregnancy outside of the relationship. They still have every intention of getting married, likely this September.
TMZ adds that Dwyane has been to L.A. to visit little Xavier multiple times already, including on Christmas Day.
