Cape Town – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe who turned 90 last month is reportedly set to have another birthday celebration in honour of his "role in the long walk to freedom".According to New Zimbabwe.com, another birthday bash was being organised by the Public Service Commission (PSC) and security services bosses for the veteran Zanu-PF leader.
This comes as government workers who have yet to get a pay rise in three years continue to struggle under the country’s harsh economic situation.
PSC chairperson Mariwanda Nzuwah said Mugabe should be honoured and thanked for his "strong advocacy for black economic empowerment through ownership and exploitation of their resources".
A $1m partywas hosted by the Zanu-PF youth wing to celebrate Mugabe's birthday in Marondera in February while the generality of Zimbabweans struggle to survive, the report said.
The February celebrations saw a total of 90 beasts were slaughtered to feed thousands of children and party activists who attended the event.
The Marondera celebration followed another party held for Mugabe by staffers from his office at State House in Harare, said the report.
