People are calling for the release of 234 Nigerian schools girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.

The City of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape will see three different marches today against the kidnapping of 234 Nigerian schools girls.

The girls were kidnapped by militant group, Boko Haram in April.

Ntsika High School will be handing out pamphlets to raise awareness, while Victoria Girl's High School will be marching on the streets.

The main event will be held at Rhodes University, with a number of speakers expected to share a stage.

“We would not tolerate that as human beings and as a country we need to respect human rights. That is the reason why we decided to take a stand to let other children know what is happening outside South Africa,” says Rhodes University organiser Lindo Zungu.

He adds that Rhodes University will not accept violation of human rights.

“We will not accept it in our country and also outside our country.”
