Islamic clerics offer funeral prayers for Arisekola-Alao •After his body arrives Ibadan from London in long convoy


ISLAMIC clerics have bagan funeral prayers for the late Ibadan bussiness mogul and Deputy President General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao, who died in London on Wednesday, after his body arrived Ibadan Friday morning.

Arisekola Alao,69, on Wednesday, died in London, few hours before he was due to return to Nigeria.
The Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland had gone for a medical check up earlier on Wednesday morning in a London hospital and opted to have a little rest.
That could not however be as he failed to wake up from his sleep which drew the attention of his family members. Attempts to wake him led to the discovery that he had passed on.


The great Islamic leader was said to have departed the shores of the country for medical check up in London, England, last week Thursday.
Immediately the news of his death filtered into town on Wednesday afternoon, people began to put calls across to confirm the authenticity of the news which had flooded the social media.
Dignitaries from all walks of life started arriving the Oluwo Kerere's home of the Arisekola-Alaos very early on Friday, awaiting his body's arrival from London for his burial.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo, had on Thursday, said in a release that the remains of Arisekola-Alao, on arrival, would be moved  to the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where prayers will be held.
He said thereafter, Alhaji Arisekola-Alao’s remains would be buried at his Oluwo Kekere residence, Bashorun Area, Ibadan.
Expected at the burial of the philanthropist are dignitaries from all walks of life, top government officials, representatives of the Federal Goverment and other state governments, religious leaders, politicians, captains of industry, Muslims and the ordinary folks for whom he lived and died.
The statement added that all arrangements had been put in place to give him a befitting burial.
