Eminem won the artist of the year award Sunday at YouTube's first-ever music awards.
The inaugural event was streamed live online and hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and musician Reggie Watts.
Live performances included Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga.
The award nominees were based on views, likes and comments and subscriptions over the last 12 months and fans voted for the winners.
The awards reflect the growing tendency for people to turn to the internet, rather than television or radio, for music and video.
Eminem's win comes one day after he was musical guest on "Saturday Night Live."
