Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has hailed the recent performances of Shola Ameobi and says Nigeria are "lucky to have him" in their squad.
The 32-year-old only made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2012 at the age of 31, but has since become a regular under Stephen Keshi and was one of the standout performers in the 2-2 draw against Italy on Monday.
And, with Nigeria also heading to the 2014 World Cup finals, Magpies boss Pardew believes the forward will not let the opportunity to impress pass him by.
"I don't think he will go to another World Cup and it is fantastic for him and Nigeria are lucky to have him," Pardew told the Daily Mail.
"He is a top, top player, he is in form and could be a surprise package in the World Cup, who will do well on that stage.
"Shola has been fantastic for this football club in more ways than one."
